The Township Council, on behalf of all residents of Prince, extends a warm welcome to you and yours.

Enclosed you will find an area map, telephone numbers and other important information concerning the attributes of this community.

We hope that you will review and partake in the many social activities available, thus helping us to make Prince Township an even more vigorous and friendly area in which to live.

Message:                  The Prince Township Library is operated by a dedicated staff of volunteers and supported by a volunteer Library board, which is appointed by the Prince Township Council at the beginning of each council term.

 

The Library Board is committed to enriching the intellectual and cultural lives of all community residents through its resources, services, programs, and active involvement in community activities, It aims to meet the needs of individuals of all ages for popular recreational reading materials, lifelong learning, and information.

 

The Prince Township Public Library offers township residents free public Internet access and free Inter-Library Loan service, and as well as a wide variety of fiction and nonfiction, including current best-sellers.  It also stocks a variety of Canadian and U.S. magazines.

 

                                    Non-residents may join us without charge.

 

The Library is funded by the Ontario Ministry of Culture and the Township of Prince.  The Library Board raises additional funds through the annual sale of Community Birthday calendars and used book sales in the Library.

 

                                    FRIENDS OF THE PRINCE TOWNSHIP LIBRARY:

The Friends organization purchases equipment, books, and supplies for the library and sponsors a summer student librarian through the federal government’s Summer Career Placement Program.

 

The Friends of the Prince Township Library hosts a Mammoth book Sale each April in Sault Ste. Marie’s Station Mall and a Country Fair each fall in the Township’s Community Centre.

 

The Annual General Meeting takes place in late September or early October in the Prince Township Public Library.  Other meetings are held as needed to plan fund-raising events.  Newcomers are always welcome to join us.

Parent/Child Resource Centre- Best Start Hub

Message:                  The Prince Township Parent/Child Resource Centre was fully funded by the Ministry of Community & Social Services under the Day Care Initiatives until 1998.  It is now funded 80% by the Province and 20% by The District of Sault Ste. Marie Social Services Administration Board.

 

Drop In Centre: The Centre accommodates children from birth to the age of ten.  Parents and caregivers can participate in a wide range of programs and activities, information is available on children’s development and early years professionals are on site to assist families.

 

Resource Library: We have a selection of developmentally appropriate toys and resources.  The  Resource Library contains     a    variety of books relating to parenting and child development, early

learning, as well as magazines, newsletters and pamphlets.

 

Activities: Programs for children are regularly scheduled including arts and crafts, storytelling, and math and science activities.  Workshops reflecting the needs and interests of parents and caregivers are also offered.

Message:                  The Prince Township Museum is located in a former United church.  The Museum has grown to include a drive shed full of machinery, the original one room school house and the Conway homestead, a restored log home.

NEWSWORTHY ITEMS

 

Monthly Newsletter           Distributed to Prince Township residents monthly.  The newsletter contains committee information, planned festivities,  Council resolutions passed and general information.

 

Taxes                                    Installments are normally due in February, May, August and October.   Payments accepted at the Municipal Office, as well as telephone or internet banking.

 

Dog Licenses                      Dog licenses must be purchased for any dog over 6 months of age.  The licenses become due March 01 of each year.  Fees are $7.50 for a spayed or neutered dog and $15.00 otherwise.  Contact the Municipal Office if you require a dog license.

 

Garbage Pick Up               Wednesdays except where a holiday falls in the previous days before regular pick up, then pick up is Thursday.  There is a bag limit of 2 bags per household.  Should you require garbage tags for addition bags  they can be purchased at $2.00 each at the Airways General Store or the Municipal Office. If you place your garbage at a communal location and do not receive garbage tags by mail please contact the municipal office at 779-2992.

           

Recycling Program             Recycling pick up takes place every other Wednesday.  A recycling depot is also located at the Community Centre.  Bins are at the rear of the building.  Items may be dropped off at any time.  We accept clear glass, coloured glass, #1 plastic (pop bottle plastic), #2 plastic, tin cans, aluminum cans, newspaper, flat board (cereal boxes, Kleenex boxes, etc.) office paper slick paper , magazines, newspaper.
